1 Peter 4:10-11
It is your birthday and there is a big celebration at hand. You see people have gathered to celebrate your existence in life. There is a cake with candles ready to be blown out. People have completed singing “Happy Birthday” to you and you make your wish. The cake is cut and now you have to enjoy the sweet taste of a yellow cake with chocolate frosting and vanilla ice cream. However, the best part about the day is the receiving of the gifts. These gifts are things that people have given you and that you did not have to pay for. These gifts were given to celebrate your day of birth and also for you to use them. As we have surrendered our lives to God, He has given us gifts. We did not purchase these gifts, we did not ask for these gifts and we did not choose these gifts. God’s purpose of giving us gifts is so that we will use them to advance His Kingdom.
As men, we are designed to be leaders and to serve others. What makes men unique is that we are blended with different characteristics so you will never find 2 men that are the same. A gift is something that people can enjoy. It does not matter if God has gifted you to preach, teach, sing, dance, build, draw, create, or anything else, use that gift to honor God and to serve the people. After you recognize the gift, you have to figure out where to use the gift. You can use the gift in your church, on your job, in your community, in your home, on the streets, in the airport, or even at a 7-11 (which is my story of witnessing). The beauty of God giving you the gift is that it does not matter if you are a NFL player, a construction worker, a singer, a mentor to young people, a custodian, or even a waiter, God will choose whom He desires to be the vessel at work.
What are the gifts God has given you with to advance the Kingdom and bring Glory to His Name?
What environments provide opportunities for you to use your gifts?
Prayer:
God, I want to take a moment and thank you for giving me something that can bring glory to your name. I ask that you prepare my spirit and renew my mind that would allow the gifts you have given me to be a blessing to others. Teach me God how the gifts should be use so that I may not perverse them. In everything I do, I give you the Glory, Honor, and Reverence. Amen
