When one begins to look at the brand God's G.E.N.T.S., I would imagine that the very first thing that catches your eye is the bow tie. Immediately, one would begin to ponder, "what makes the bow tie significant with the brand God's G.E.N.T.S.?" Well, let me take you back to the year 2012.
In 2012, I began was directing the mass choir at the church I am a member of. Our worship to God was very high and I must say that the choir did an amazing job. After church service, I would always stop at a 7-11 and purchase 3 items: a mountain dew, Tabasco slim jim, and some sour patch candy straws. On this particular day though, it was raining very hard outside. After I purchased my items, I walked out the door and waited hoping the rainfall would slow down. At that moment, a Hispanic man approached me and began to stare at my bow tie. I asked him, "Sir, is there anything you need?" His response to me was, "I admire your bow tie. Why do you dress like that?" I shared with him that I was coming from church and worshiping God and the next thing that came out of his mouth really changed my way of thinking. He asked me, "I need your help. I have no one who loves me. Does God love me?" It was at that moment I realized that this was the moment I have been praying for. I can really share about God to someone who is a total stranger. We held hands and we began to pray. We prayed for his family who abandoned him, his alcohol addiction, and for his soul. When we were done praying, he took the 40 oz of alcohol he purchased and pour every drop out of the bottle. He said that he felt like God was giving him a second chance. He asked me if he could go to church with me the next Sunday. I told him I would pick him up at 10:30 am this very spot. He agreed to meet me there. However, when the next Sunday came, he did not show up and I never saw the man again.
I share this story because it took a simple bow tie to give me an opportunity to share my story of how God saved me to someone who was lost. We are called to witness to a world who does not know about God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My prayer is that the logo of God's G.E.N.T.S. provides you the opportunity to share your story of God's redeeming love in your life.
